Looked like a “traditional” couple of days for cyclocross racing in Oracle. Thanks to the UA Cycling Team for hosting – and 3C Ranch for the venue.

Updated Series Standings (after six events) .

As a reminder, to qualify/earn the Series Championship, you must START the Series Finals on December 15. Most points earned over the course of the Series – wins the Championship.

On the same day, and in the same races, we will be crowning AZ State Cyclocross Champions. You must be an Arizona resident to claim the title.

Details on ordering your State Championships jersey can be found on

2018 AZ CROSS Series Championship and State Championship

Series Championship Points

“Racers will earn points for placing 1st through 10th place. The AZ Cross Series Champion for each category will be the racer who collects the greatest number of points (one race drop allowed). You must race Series Finals to qualify for Championship.”

The intent of the above was to not require racers to attend every Series race to qualify for the Championship. (Racers are required to START the SERIES FINALS  to qualify for the Championship in a category.)

It “allows” for one race drop, but does not require a race to be dropped from your points total.

Put simply: Race and get points, don’t race, no points. Keep everything you EARN.

This weekend in Oracle – both days are worth 1.5X Series points. Make the trip.

Series Finals – December 15 – are worth 2X Series Points.

Timely article – CX Nationals and Rankings

A few AZ CX racers are thinking on making the trip to Louisville, KY next month – yes, Nationals is set for December 12-16!

Your USAC rank impacts call-ups (or start line placement) at Nationals. Unfortunately, the small fields, and smaller quantity of top ranked CX racers, impact the ranking points you can earn here in Arizona.
